Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum,West Georgia Textile Heritage Trail and Southern Quilt Trail remind us of our area’s past as one of the biggest cotton fiber and fabric goods producer in the state. The Pine Mountain Gold Museum in Villa Rica documents the first gold strike in Georgia – and it wasn’t Dahlonega. There’s also a permanent exhibit dedicated to Coca-Cola’s Villa Rica connection: company founder Asa Candler was born here. McIntosh Reserve Park preserves
and celebrates the area’s rich Native American history while offering visitors some of the most beautiful natural sights in the South. The 527-acre park adjacent to the Chattahoochee River includes the site of McIntosh’s plantation, known as Lochau Talofau, or Acorn Bluff. The park combines recreation activities, preservation of cultural heritage, public education, fish and wildlife management and conservation of the Chattahoochee River Corridor. Visitors to McIntosh
Reserve can camp, hike and picnic. Horseback riding is also very popular at the park. Displays and signs within the park interpret this important part of our program.
