Nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Charlottesville & Albemarle County is an idyllic place to visit and live! Home to Thomas Jefferson, the area is steeped in history and tradition. Thomas Jefferson's influence can still be felt, even to this day! With a plethora of farm-to-table restaurants, more than 30 wineries, more than a dozen breweries and cideries, and the University of Virginia (which he also founded), Charlottesville & Albemarle County truly has something for everybody. Additionally, the region was home to two other presidents - James Monroe and James Madison both had homes nearby. The epicenter of Charlottesville is the historic pedestrian Downtown Mall, which features dozens of shops and restaurants, many of which have outdoor patios. The outdoor enthusiast will love hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, kayaking on area rivers, and fishing in local streams. With a very temperate and moderate climate, Charlottesville & Albemarle County can be enjoyed just about any time of the year!
