Spanning just 2-square-miles and hosting a population of less than 5,000 people, Michigan's Little Bavaria is a secure and quiet place to visit and live. Although Frankenmuth is known for it's safety and peaceful environment, it's also home to several lively festivals & events throughout the year, including Autofest, Summer Music Fest, and Bavarian Festival. While our festivals last only a couple days at a time, Frankenmuth is full of great everyday activities to partake in such as touring the largest Medal of Honor collection at Michigan's Own Military & Space Museum, exploring the history of Michigan's Little Bavaria at the Frankenmuth Historical Association, taking a boat ride on the Bavarian Belle in the summertime, or simply stopping in at the dozens of boutique shops downtown and at the River Place Shops. Come to Frankenmuth for a culinary trip you won't forget. With a casual stroll down Main Street you’ll find craft beer and wine as well as restaurants specializing in German, Italian, Oriental, and French cuisine. Don't forget about our world-famous chicken dinners! If you're still hungry or looking to taste another side of Frankenmuth, enjoy our many coffee shops, cafes, pubs and bakeries. And for the times that family comes to visit, we have 8 beautiful hotel properties throughout town, a few RV parks, and several Bed & Breakfasts, all with unique charm and coziness to keep everyone delighted. Things to Do, Recreation & Fitness


   Frankenmuth is known for it's many annual festivals throughout the year, the most popular being Zehnder's Snowfest, a week long ice and snow sculpting festival throughout town, Autofest, a 3-day car show down Main Street and Heritage Park combined with Oldies Music Fest, Summer Music Fest, a two weekend festival featuring Polish, German, & Slovenian ethnic style music, and Oktoberfest, a 4-day German festival featuring good food, music, and drinks. Shopping in Frankenmuth is one of the best things about town, as you can find everything you need right here. The Frankenmuth River Place Shops is home to over 40 different shops and attractions, and Main Street is full of a variety of different shops like a cheese haus, woolen mill, & yarn shop. The Cinema Hollywood movie theater in Birch Run is just a quick 15 minute drive South of town, and the Birch Run Premium Outlets are right around the corner from there. Frankenmuth is very "walker" friendly and has many great walking trails, both on Main Street and through our scenic neighborhoods. With the installation of the new fish passage on the Cass River, allowing fish to pass upstream, the sport of fishing is booming in Frankenmuth. Our many boat launches in Heritage Park over the ability to explore the Cass River on your own, or if you'd rather take a guided tour, the Bavarian Belle Riverboat and Frankenmuth FunShips can provide an enjoyable river experience for you. Many of the outdoors festivals, events, and activities in town are free or low-cost to watch and participate in, so there's always affordable fun to be had in Frankenmuth!

Cultural Activities


Many of the Frankenmuth festivals feature live music by locals in town, or well-known Michigan groups or bands. Bronner Performing Arts Center puts on plays, shows, and concerts throughout the year. The Frankenmuth James E Wickson District Library is close to the center of town. Frankenmuth Historical Association, Lager Mill, Michigan's Own Military & Space Museum, Frankenmuth Woolen Mill, and Zeilinger Wool Mill are just a few of the attractions or museums that offer tours year-round.

Public transportation


Both Zehnder's & Bavarian Inn offer free shuttle service between their properties in town. There is a local cab service available in town. Frankenmuth is only 30 miles from both MBS Airport and Flint-Bishop International Airport.

Medical Facilities


Frankenmuth is just 18 miles from Covenant Medical Center in Saginaw. There is also a Covenant Healthcare office in town where patients can visit a primary care physician, have X-Rays done, and more. We also feature several assisted living centers throughout town such as Covenant Glen and Independence Village of Frankenmuth. There are several rehabilitation centers in Frankenmuth as well.
