Wilmington is a corporate haven and more than 70 percent of Fortune 500 Companies are incorporated in Delaware. Many people live and work in the City of Wilmington and there has been an enormous amount of residential development on Wilmington's Riverfront and along Market Street in Downtown Wilmington. Suburban towns surround the city so there are many choices and great amenities including museums, mansions and gardens and shopping, dining and entertainment are tax-free.

Delaware is the country's third friendliest states for biking. Route 100 and Route 52 are part of the National Scenic Byways, so beauty abounds. The Greater Wilmington Area has wonderful state and county parks as well as many pocket parks. There are private golf clubs and many excellent public golf facilities and tennis courts. Outdoor concerts, including the Annual DuPont Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Downtown Wilmington in June and the Ladybug Festival in July, are popular throughout the season and there are more than 100 festivals scheduled every year. The Blue Rocks Baseball Team plays at Frawley Stadium and they are a franchise for the World Champion Kansas City Royals. The Delaware Blue Coats are a farm team for the Philadelphia 76er's. A 2,500-seat Fieldhouse is under construction on the Riverfront and will be the new home of the Blue Coats. An 18-hole Mini Golf Course, a portable Ice Skating Rink and Constitution Yards Beer Garden are new additions on the Wilmington Riverfront. The list goes on and on!

Wilmington is a relatively small city with a population under 75,000 but it has big city amenities including a resident opera company, ballet and symphony and a choice of theaters and live performance venues. The University of Delaware is located in nearby Newark, DE and the Osher Center for Life Long Learning,run by the University of Delaware,is located in Wilmington.
