The communities of Petoskey, Bay View, Bay Harbor, Harbor Springs and Boyne City are small lakeside communities best known as multi-generational summer cottage communities for some of the Midwest's wealthiest families of the late 19th century.
The community of Bay View, established in 1875, is a National Historic Landmark for its Victorian architecture preservation and continues as a summer Chautauqua; Bay Harbor is the areas newest development (1994) on the site of an abandoned cement factory which now is home to an ultra high end resort community with resort shopping district, yacht club, hotels and championship golf courses; the area is also well known for its 18 championship golf courses, beaches, bike trails, resort shopping districts and 3 downhill ski areas.

The Bay View Association is a summer Chautauqua with musical, cultural and educational programs throughout July and August; there is always some type of community event going on in the spring, summer and fall although we stay active throughout the winter too.
