Sedalia is centrally located in Missouri with easy access to anywhere in the state. Major highways 50 and 65 intersect in our city, and are only 18 miles from Interstate 70. We are 20 minutes east of Whiteman Air Force Base, or only 30 minutes North of the tranquility of the Truman Lake area. If you enjoy the serenity of country our city prides itself on being an excellent place to raise a family, and an ideal place for business growth and development. Sedalia is the commercial hub of a nine-county area, serving more than 145,000 residents with-in a 45 mile radius.

   Historic Katy Depot Landmark is Sedalia's Welcome Center. The Katy Depot is a year Round Visitor Destination & Interpretive Center. Located at mile marker 227 on Missouri's Katy Trail, the Katy Depot serves as a full service trailhead including long term parking; bicycle rentals, repairs and sales; restrooms, refreshments; directions and referrals; and trail souvenirs. Sedalia is the permanent home of the Missouri State Fair that is held annually for eleven days in mid-August on the 400 acre fairgrounds. Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival is held annually the first Wednesday through Saturday of June. Sedalia is fortunate to offer three public libraries, Galaxy movie theater, Bowling Alley,city parks and water park, and also has stocked fishing ponds in two of the parks. Leisure Park offers two miniature golf courses, Go-Karts and arcade. Sedalia also has a private Country Club.

Cultural Activities





Queen of the Prairies Festival of the Arts is held in the open air downtown in September. Boasting two live theaters as well as several art galleries, Sedalia has an array of choices of arts and entertainment. Daum Museum of Contemporary Art is open year round. The Daum collects, preserves, interprets, and exhibits modern and contemporary works of art.

Both OATS, and city bus service that run scheduled stops. Taxi cab companies, an Amtrak, and a Regional Airport service the area.

Medical Facilities


Bothwell Health Center-Sedalia opened the Bothwell Diagnostic Center, Bothwell Health Center-Truman Lake, Bothwell Sleep Center, Bothwell Healing Arts Center (with multiple physician practices), the Canon Center for Cancer & Cardiovascular Care and the Bothwell Wound Healing Center. To better prepare for the changes occurring in health care, Bothwell also joined five other acute care hospitals to form the Health Network of Missouri. Independently is Katy Trail Community Health.
