Area Description

Cazenovia is a small Village of 2,835 people, 943 occupied housing units and 622 businesses. We are a picturesque community with an Historic Downtown Shopping area set next to Cazenovia Lake. We have many parks including Lakeland Park with a sandy beach for wading and swimming. Lakeland also has a bandstand with free summer concerts. There is also Lakeside Park which has a boat launch and two large pavilions with grills for picnics. We have a Cazenovia Public Library with a museum and numerous events for both children and retirees. We also have many trails to walk or ride bicycle on.
The Lorenzo Historic Park is at the south end of our lake and it also host many large events year round. The Lorenzo Riding Competition in July with many beautiful horses and carriages from across the northeast. We have Classic car shows and a foreign car show annually. There is a huge Art and Craft show on the 4th of July weekend along with parades, food, bands and fireworks over the lake.
Cazenovia College is in our Village with 1000 students currently. Neighbors around the campus are seldom disturbed with any ruckus.
Our housing inventory includes many large historic homes and we also have Condominiums and apartments available. We have many Realtors in Cazenovia to serve you. We have a large grocery store and two pharmacies to choose from. We have a beverage trail of breweries, wineries, and distilleries near our Village. We have a Cazenovia Area Senior Association with planned trips, monthly lunches, and bowling every Wednesday at one p.m. for only $1 per game.

Things to Do, Recreation & Fitness
   Cazenovia College offers indoor Swimming and exercise facilities year round. We are fifteen minutes from Toggenberg Ski Resort and the Foggy Goggle Restaurant. Cazenovia draws visitors from miles around to enjoy our many fine restaurants. Brewster Inn, Lincklaen House, Brae Loch Inn, BG Buda's, Les Pates Et Les Noulles, Latte Da, Blue Canoe Grill, Cazenovia Pizzeria, Dave's Diner, Junior's Caz Bar, Nina's Pizzeria & Italian Restaurant (Chittenango), Owahgena Pizzeria, McDonald's, Subway and Caz Sports Bowl. Our Tops market has whole broasted chickens, a full deli and bakery with sandwiches and pizzas to go.

Cultural Activities
We have a very active Art community with over thirty artists displaying and selling their works at the Cazenovia Artisans Shop which is open seven days a week. We have lectures at Library and College Theater. We are only minutes away from Syracuse with Zoo, Theater and Symphony.

Public transportation
We have CRIS-CAT which will provide transportation for seniors to doctors appointments, shopping and to airport. We are about twenty minutes from Fayetteville which has all the large shopping available such as Target, Kohls and TJ Max. We are thirty minutes from Syracuse with all the big box stores and Destiny USA. Syracuse Stage Theater has individual shows and season tickets. We are ten minutes from Chittenango with the Yellow Brick Road Casino. A half hour east is the Turning Stone Casino and Vernon Downs Race Track and Casino.

Cazenovia, New York offers the following assistance for seniors:
CASA does a great job keeping seniors active with trips, bowling and monthly meals. We have a church that offers free meals every Monday evening for a small donation. We have The Key which offers many items of clothing and housewares. We also have Caz Cares that offers food and clothing when needed to over four hundred families in the area. We have Eye Care of CNY, Heritage Family Medicine with complete family medical care. We also have Laboratory Alliance of CNY for lab tests with no appointment necessary.

What Job or Volunteer Opportunities Does Cazenovia Offer For Retirees?

Cazenovia has a very active Garden Club with monthly lectures and Spring and Christmas Plant Sales. They also decorate the entire village in the Spring and at Christmas with planter boxes. Cazenovia also has a very active Lions and Rotary Club that do community service projects. CRIS-CAT is always looking for volunteers to help other seniors with transportation or other needs. CRIS is Community Resources for Independent Seniors. Madison Co. Office for the Aging in also nearby in Canastota. Nursing Solutions Services - Home Health Care is personal home nursing care.
