We offer access to all types of sporting events. High School, college, and professional teams are nearby. Our lakes, Lake Greenwood and Lake Murray offer great fishing, boating, sailing, as well as pleasure boating. Half of Newberry County is comprised of Sumter National forest, which offers a wonderful setting for camping, hunting, and horseback riding. Within our county borders, we also have the Palmetto Trail and Lynches Woods, both walking and riding areas as well as two very impressive eighteen hole golf courses. We also offer several well attended festivals. Over 100,000 visitors come each year to attend many of the spectacular shows at our very own, Newberry Opera House.

Our city is within 45 minutes of the Columbia, SC and Greenville/ Spartanburg regional airports and one and a half hours from Charlotte, NC. We also have rental car companies and access to rail traffic.
