We are a diverse community. Several large poultry and cattle farms, along with small and large industrys. We also offer a technical school as well as Newberry College. A wonderfully mild climate
coupled with two lakes within a few minutes from our city, enable our citizen many sporting opportunities.

   We offer access to all types of sporting events. High School, college, and professional teams are nearby. Our lakes, Lake Greenwood and Lake Murray offer great fishing, boating, sailing, as well as
pleasure boating. Half of Newberry County is comprised of Sumter National forest, which offers a wonderful setting for camping, hunting, and horseback riding. Within our county borders, we also have the Palmetto Trail and Lynches Woods, both walking and riding areas as well as two very impressive
eighteen hole golf courses. We also offer several well attended festivals. Over 100,000 visitors come each year to attend many of the spectacular shows at our very own, Newberry Opera House.

Cultural Activities
Our Newberry Opera House features such greats as Michael Bolten, Helen Reddy, and many, many others,
which brings thousands of visitors. Our quaint shops and several fine dining restaurants allow our visitors to relax and enjoy our very safe and friendly community.

Public transportation
Our city is within 45 minutes of the Columbia, SC and Greenville/ Spartanburg regional airports and one and a half hours from Charlotte, NC. We also have rental car companies and access to rail traffic.

Newberry County Memorial Hospital offers great services and has one of the lowest infection rates
in the country. A highly motivated staff is evident throughout the hospital and wellness center.
