Area Description

Ely is a major dropping off point for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. We're all about the outdoors, but we also have unique shopping and attractions like no other. The International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center are just a couple of the reasons why people come to Ely. We also have the Dorothy Molter Museum - honoring the life of the 'Rootbeer Lady' of Knife Lake. The Ely Winton Historical Society's museum is located in Vermilion Community College, a college That offers a variety of natural resource and outdoor based career and transfer degrees, as well as strong liberal arts and business based programs.
