Area Description

Located in North Central Iowa, Webster City, the county seat of Hamilton County, has many surprises for both the visitor and the local. The Boone River meanders right through town and walking/running/biking trails will take you from downtown out to Briggs Woods County Conservation area two miles out of town. You can golf at 2 golf courses, eat at one of many restaurants, shop at unique specialty stores and live in a safe environment.

   In addition to the activities listed above there are also great classes at varying levels to teach you new interesting hobbies & crafts all through the year.
Also, the library is a great place for crafts, free movies, great area speakers, author talks, and books, DVD's and so much more.
There are shopping events like Farmers Market, Craft Fairs, Vintage Junquefest events, Sip n Stroll, Ladies Night Out, Car Shows, Taste of Home Cooking Show, Show Your Spirit-Game Night, and Light Displays in parks & downtown.
The high school has a new performance gym that can hold district and regional sporting events, along with performance concerts.
There are many seasonal golf tournaments at our two golf courses, along with walking/running events. Fuller Recreation Hall and SNAP Fitness are available for fitness training.


Cultural Activities


Our Heritage Museum is located in a park like setting with authentic cabins, one room schoolhouse, country church [used for real weddings], original 1956 courthouse, and Webster City's original railroad depot. Each building is filled with interesting furniture that matches the period of the structure.
Webster City has a downtown movie theater with current movies and a performing arts center theater that performs five plays a year.
Local churches and schools provide musical concerts throughout the year, along with two school play productions.

Public transportation


HayRide Bus is a handy way to get around Webster City. During weekends and evenings we now have a taxi. Fort Dodge has an airport that connects to major cities and is only 20 miles away. Webster City has its own airport, too.
