St. Joseph County does not experience natural disasters like many other parts of the country. It is a very rare occasion to experience something that would qualify. We have had a slight shaking with no damage that was declared an earthquake and tornadoes that will tear up trees every 10 years or so and an occasional flood with minimal damage but we experience all 4 seasons here with a low risk for natural disasters.
