Since its incorporation in 1905, St. Lucie County has always been an attractive place to live. Located on Florida’s east coast between Orlando and Miami, St. Lucie County features 21 miles of unspoiled beaches and has more than 11,000 acres of parks and preserves. St. Lucie County (pop. 280,000) includes the cities of Fort Piece, Port St. Lucie and Hutchinson Island.

According to the current Census data, St. Lucie County’s population is 308,000. The average median home value is $122,900 with 73 percent of the population owning their homes. The median household income is $43,413.

There are more than 37,600 students in St. Lucie County’s public schools. The school district oversees 19 elementary schools, 12 K-8 schools, three middle schools and six high schools.

More than 85 percent of our residents are high school graduates, while nearly 20 percent have a bachelor’s degree or higher.

In addition to the public education system, there are a number of research facilities located in St. Lucie County, including FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, USDA Horticultural Research Laboratory; The Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce and more.

Public transportation


St. Lucie County's public transit system - the Treasure Coast Connector links up to other transportation systems allowing rides to travel as far south as Miami or as far north as Cape Canaveral. www.treasurecoastconnector.

Medical Facilities


St. Lucie County is home to three hospitals, including a level 1 trauma center. There are also ample number of nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the region. Coming in 2017, St. Lucie County will be the home of the state's 7th Veterans Nursing Home in the Tradition area.
