Things to Do, Recreation & Fitness
   Within the Amana Colonies you will find a variety of outdoor activites including hihking and biking trails, a championship level golf course, and numerous festivals during the year. The Amana Colonies are a unique area that offers history buffs many opportunities and is a National Historic Landmark.

Cultural Activities
We feature a live theater company along with a museum complex featuring the history of the Amana Colonies. The arts are very alive in the Colonies as the Amana Arts Guild has its own series of events and the Amana Colonies Festivals Inc has a full schedule of events each year.

Public transportation
There is no public transportation in the seven villages of the Amana Colonies

There are major hospitals within 30 miles including the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, a major research and teaching hospital
