   Grand Prairie has several tourist attractions, hotels, and restaurants; as well as top ranked parks including Lynn Creek Park and Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake. The Parks Department also has several recreation centers to encourage health lifestyles. Grand Prairie is home to a world-class recreation center called The Summit Active Adult Center for residents over the age of 55, and The Epic is a recreation center open to all ages and capabilities.

Grand Prairie has 2 performance theaters (Uptown Theater and Verizon Theater), the Lone Star Park Race Track, Grand Prairie Airhogs baseball stadium, 2 movie theaters, an outdoor outlet mall, 2 golf courses, a beach area, cabins on the lake, a marina, a local airport, and several restaurants.

Public transportation




Grand Prairie is located 20 minutes south of the DFW Airport. We have a bus shuttle called the Grand Connection for senior citizens who need help getting around.

Medical Facilities


Texas General Hospital is the largest hospital in Grand Prairie. Parkland E. Carlyle Smith is a woman's hospital, and the Medical Center at Arlington opened an ER at Grand Prairie for regional emergencies.

Texas is known to experience all four seasons in one week. It is hot and humid during the summer, and cold and wet in the winter. Tornadoes can occur during the turn of the seasons around April. Most of the time, tornadoes tend to go around Grand Prairie and don't cause much damage. We also get a lot of rain at the turn of seasons, which can cause flooding.
